AMV is an artist collective made up of Julien Boily, Cindy Dumais and Mathieu Valade. This organization aims to put the artist at the center of the development of his career. It positions him as the first actor in the search for greater autonomy in terms of creation and diffusion. AMV presents itself as a flexible entrepreneurial structure adapted to the needs of artists established on the outskirts of major centers and in complementarity with the artistic ecology of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.
Our primary objective is to promote our members' work internationally through a strategy of exchanges and partnerships with Canadian and international arts organizations. AMV aims to be an inclusive structure and wishes to put its expertise at the service of the entire artistic community by inviting other artists to participate in its activities and events. We promote a collaborative approach with artist-run centers, exhibition centers and all stakeholders in the ecology of contemporary art.
AMV draws on the diversity and complementary expertise of its member artists.
Julien Boily sits on the board of directors as president of the Ateliers d'artistes Touttout. He was artistic coordinator of the Espace Virtuel center, then of the Bang center where he was responsible for the programming of exhibitions from 2010 to 2015. He has completed numerous public commissions and integrations of the arts into architecture in his own right as well as within the collective Cédule 40. His work is included in the collections of the City of Montreal and the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi.
Cindy Dumais has been active in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region since 2001. She is the co-founder of the Artbord event (2001-2002) and ENGAGE (2004) with Médium Marge. In 2005, she founded the Os Brûlé event, an intercultural meeting of performances and writing, with Michaël La Chance. Since 2005, she has held the dual role of author and editor with LaClignotante publishing, which collaborates with artists from different disciplines to design and produce works that are closer to artist books than traditional publications. Chair of the board of directors of the Bang Center, she has coordinated the Visual Arts department at Cégep de Chicoutimi since 2015, where she has taught since 2007. A member of Ateliers TouTTout since 1999, her multidisciplinary work is part of several private and public collections.
