The base

The base

In a sparse wooded area, two simple, large geometric shapes are placed on the ground: a cylinder and a cube. These basic shapes are covered with military fabric with a camouflage pattern. This device aims to integrate, or even camouflage, art objects in nature, in the same way that works are inserted into architecture or urban spaces. The title La base plays on the fundamental nature of the shapes as well as on the appearance of a military camp that the installation provides.

The creation of this work was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
