A chromatic hour 1

Une heure chromatique

A Chromatic Hour is a sculpture made up of twelve 43-inch television monitors mounted on a circular plywood structure. Each one broadcasts a video showing cross-fades from one flat color to another. At the beginning of the cycle, the televisions each present a color from the color wheel. The color fades to the next color. At the end of each five-minute cycle, the initial color is in the neighboring television, which means that after an hour, the colors are back in their initial positions. This colorimetric rotation is barely perceptible due to its slowness. Also, since the colors are always in "transition" to a color on Johannes Itten's color wheel, we are almost always in the presence of intermediate colors.
